
Lucas Bellamy, a sophomore on the Palisades High tennis team, won the Boys’ 16s singles division Sunday in the 37th annual Racquet Centre Spring Open at the Burbank Tennis Center.
As the No. 1 seed Bellamy advanced through the 64-player singles draw without losing a set until the finals, where he outlasted Leyton Bohren of Upland, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4, in a two-and-a-half hour marathon.

After a first-round bye, Bellamy beat West Hollywood’s Nicholas Azrilan, 6-2, 6-1, in the round of 32, defeated Brea Olinda High freshman Alex Huang, 6-2, 6-3, in the round of 16, blanked Crescenta Valley High junior Jonathan Frink, 6-0, 6-0, in the quarterfinals and beat third-seeded Curtis Tam of San Gabriel, 6-3, 6-4, in the semifinals.
Bellamy reached the semifinals of the Fullerton Junior Tournament in February.
