Palisadian Savannah Scott, a seventh grader at Calvary Christian School, performed for a sold-out crowd at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday, May 2.
The 13-year-old performed as part of Camp Broadway Kids, a 60-member musical theater ensemble, at the New York Pops’ 33rd Birthday Gala. Of the hundreds of youth from all over the United States who auditioned, Savannah was the only Angeleno selected and one of only three Californians.
Savannah’s mom Lisa Scott said the trip was the experience of a lifetime.
“Her dream is to be on Broadway,” Lisa said. “Just being in New York itself was really great for her, but the experience of going to Carnegie Hall was amazing. Her favorite part was just being in Carnegie Hall.”
The group performed tunes from “Les Misérables” and “Miss Saigon” alongside the likes of Tony Award nominees Stephanie Block and Montego Glover and Jesse Tyler Ferguson of “Modern Family.”
