Trees
I moved to the Alphabet Streets a year ago but have already noticed how fast trees are vanishing around here. I did not realize that my new home might be partially responsible for the problems until I read your piece (“Where Did Our Trees Go?” from Nov. 16.) so I called up my builder.
I wanted to know if my street had lost any trees because of the remodeling, and he said yes, an old oak, he thought. He had to plant four new trees, he remembered that.
He had the oak replaced under city rules, but the nearest suitable sidewalk was in Brentwood, because they have wider sidewalks and lost a lot of trees years ago.
I just moved from Brentwood because it was getting too nuts. Does this mean Brentwood is getting all of our trees?

Do’s and Don’ts
May I offer a few words of unsolicited advice?
Don’t leave money, cell phones or wallets in your car.
Do please give your children something that lights up for when they are crossing the street, especially at twilight because I (and others) could barely see them.
