Since Bay Club Pacific Palisades closed on May 31, 2022, I, along with a few other friends, joined the Palisades-Malibu YMCA on Via De La Paz. Right now it meets my need, is close to home and I enjoy supporting our local businesses.
From the size of my “Easy Does It” class of 25 plus, it must meet their needs, also. The instructor, Carlos Janos, is terrific and very popular. He teaches four days a week for one hour.
Monday and Wednesday classes are energetic to music and all cardio. Tuesday and Thursday are half cardio and half sitting on a chair doing weights to lively music.
For seniors and young people, the YMCA is great, reasonable in price and a fun place to work out on machines and/or take classes. They also offer yoga classes.
The Y’s Feed LA network of branches, including Pacific Palisades, remains a powerful resource for free produce distribution and meals across Los Angeles. Every Thursday since February 2021, the YMCA has been involved.
They have eight to 10 volunteers per week and are always looking for more volunteers. They distribute 110 to 135 boxes of vegetables, fruit and dry foods to those of a certain income. One must sign up at the Y to be qualified.
Come check out your local YMCA, I did and am very happy I did.
