Palisades High seniors Molly Kornfeind and Kendall Gustafson signed letters of intent last Wednesday at the PaliHi gym, with Kornfeind committing to Dartmouth to play volleyball and Gustafson committing to Duke to run track. In December, Kornfeind was named City Section Player of the Year for the third straight season along with earning Western League Player of the Year honors after leading the Dolphins to their third straight City Section title. Currently, Kornfeind is playing goaltender on the girls soccer team. Gustafson returned from a hairline fracture in her right foot to post an impressive showing at last year’s City finals, where she won the high jump and finished second in the long jump, second in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. She also competes in the heptathlon. Both Kornfeind and Gustafson played years of AYSO Region 69 soccer and on U9 and U10 all-star club teams against one another, then played for Santa Monica United Soccer Club and Westside Breakers Soccer Club before branching out into their current sports.
