In his ninth appearance as a mutant superhero, Hugh Jackman will cap his 17-year role as “Wolverine” in this month’s fantasy feature, “Logan.”
Set in the near-distant 2024, the film portrays a grim world where the X-Men have disbanded due to a dwindling mutant population. Succumbing to alcoholism and nearly drained of his self-healing powers, a retired Logan/Wolverine attempts to leave his past behind by working as a chauffeur on the United States-Mexico border.
Despite his resistance, fate has a different plan for the jaded superhero. Logan soon find his new life capsized by a young mutant in danger. On the run from dark forces, Laura—played by Dafne Keen—is a self-healer with whom Logan finds a kindred connection.
Directed by James Mangold, the final installment of the Wolverine film series received a brutish R-rating and features music by Palisadian composer Marco Beltrami. The Oscar-nominated musician is best known for his work on “The Hurt Locker, ”World War Z” and “Scream.”
Also starring the iconic Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook and Stephen Merchant—Logan hits theaters on March 3.
