Palisades High softball second baseman Calia Hunter was named Western League Player of the year after leading the Dolphins to second place and a berth in the City Division I playoffs.
In 17 games played, Hunter batted .489 with 23 hits, 11 RBIs and 28 runs scored. Joining her on the All-League First Team were four more Dolphins, all seniors: catcher Sasha Vanley, outfielder Samahni Squalls, infielder Milly Acevedo and pitcher Jasmine Pelayo Nejar. Earning Second Team honors was senior pitcher/outfielder Talia Hunter, Calia’s twin sister. Victoria Raygosa from league champion Venice was named Pitcher of the Year.
Calia Hunter, who was invited to play in yesterday’s Valley vs. City Senior All-Star Game,was voted to the All-City First Team.Squalls made the Second Team.
