The Palisades High boys and girls basketball teams return to the hardwood after only limited action last week as a result of the fires throughout the Southland.
After winning its first game of the Jim Nakabera Classic at University High, the boys team fell to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 84-42 in its second pool contest, with guard Anthony Spencer leading the way. The last two tournament rounds were canceled. The Dolphins traveled to Crossroads on Tuesday and travel to Santa Monica for an intersectional matchup Friday night at 7.
Meanwhile, the girls improved to 3-2 with a 76-5 rout of Bishop Conaty-Loretto in the opening game of the St. Monica Holiday Classic. Sammie Arnold led the way with 22 points, Jane Nwaba had 20 and Ivy Scott added 17 points and 13 rebounds as Palisades held the Wildcats scoreless in the first half.
“It was a confidence booster for us and everyone played, but we still have a lot to work on,” first-year coach Danielle Foley said.
The Dolphins resume the tournament today versus Culver City.
