Alain Giraud of Maison Giraud on Swarthmore Avenue in the Village will be honored at the VIP brunch at the 19th annual Pier del Sol fundraiser for the Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) on Sunday, Oct. 11 at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier.
Giraud, a strong supporter of the Special Olympics and Pier del Sol since its inaugural event in 1998, will be named the First Honorary Chef.
“His culinary talent, friendship and generosity is much appreciated and we are honored to celebrate him as our first honorary chef,” Michelle Brien, SOSC’s Manager of Special Events, said.
Pier del Sol is a family fun event where guests can enjoy unlimited rides and games at Pacific Park.
The event will also feature a VIP outdoor brunch with over 36 of Greater Los Angeles’ top restaurants, including Clementine, Angelini Osteria, Blue Plate Taco, Pink’s, Hamasaku and of course, Maison Giraud.
Other festivities include music and live entertainment, arts and crafts, karaoke and a silent auction.
Honorary chairs of the event are former Palisadian Maria Shriver and Bobby Shriver.
SOSC enriches the lives of more than 19,625 athletes with intellectual disabilities and their communities through sports, education and athlete health.
Proceeds from the Pier del Sol fundraiser will not only provide free year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, but also give them empowerment, joy and improved health.
Tickets for the event, which goes from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, range from $60-$500. For more information, visit: www.sosc.org/pierdelsol.
