Former Palisades High basketball standout and Palisadian-Post Cup Award winner Chelsey Gipson powered the Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team to a road sweep in the Bay Area last weekend, marking the first time this season that the Lions (3-6) have won back-to-back games.
Gipson, a senior guard, had 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in Saturday’s 66-57 win at Santa Clara and added 10 points, three assists and one rebound in a 72-55 victory at San Francisco that evened LMU’s West Coast Conference record at 2-2.
In seven games played this year (two starts), Gipson has averaged 8.1 points and 2.1 rebounds. The Lions open a three-game homestand tonight against BYU. Gipson won two City Open Division championships at Pali High and was named City Player of the Year twice.
