For the second year in a row, the Palisades Will Rogers 5 & 10K Run and Kids’ Fun Run on the Fourth of July have been canceled due to COVID-19. Race Director Brian Shea submitted a permit application to the city of Los Angeles on March 3 but reported it would not be issued with “conditions that are in effect until June 15,” leaving not enough time to plan.
“I have been involved with the race since its inception some 44 years ago as the race director,” Shea said. “Very sad day for me.”
The event was last held in 2019, when there were 2,339 registered participants in the 42nd annual race.
