Thanks in part to the reliable foot of kicker Kai Forbath, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears 23-10 on Sunday to finish the NFL regular season 13-3. Forbath, who grew up in the Highlands, made all three of his extra point attempts for the Vikings, who are the No. 2 seed and earned a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs. Forbath, 30, leads the team in scoring with 130 points, having converted 32 of 38 field goal tries and 34 of 39 extra point attempts.
Pali High graduate Mitchell Schwartz, the starting right tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, extended his league-best consecutive snaps streak as the Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 27-24 to win the AFC West and clinch the No. 4 seed in the AFC playoffs.
The 28-year-old Schwartz has never missed an offensive snap in his six seasons in the NFL.
