Ben Howland talks to this year’s campers after Friday’s awards ceremony at Palisades High.
After five days of skills and thrills, the annual Ben Howland Basketball Camp ended today at Palisades High with three exciting championship games.
In a contest as exciting as any so far in the NBA Finals, the Spurs scored the first 10 points and led 16-9 at halftime, only to see the Heat storm back in the third quarter to take a 22-18 lead after three quarters. The Spurs ultimately prevailed 31-26 in the NBA Division (grades 5-7).
Auburn beat Kentucky to win the SEC Division (grades 1 & 2) and UCLA beat Arizona for the PAC-12 Division title (grades 3 & 4).
“It was a great week, the parents are so supportive and it’s nice to see so many kids come back year after year,” said Howland, the former UCLA men’s head coach. Exactly 100 kids attended this year’s camp.
