The latest shop to open its doors at Palisades Village is Favorite Daughter, owned and operated by sisters Erin and Sara Foster, who welcomed customers on Friday, November 4.
Located at 15277 Sunset Boulevard in a space previously occupied by a Madhappy residency, the store, the second brick-and-mortar spot for the brand, is a long-term tenant, as opposed to a pop-up destination.
Favorite Daughter is described as an “approachable lifestyle brand” of “must-have” and “on-trend” pieces.
“Together, the sisters design effortlessly uncomplicated styles to build the perfect closet,” according to its website.
The development of the brand began prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and launched December 2020.
“After many arguments over colors, fabrics, styles and who should be the fit model, we are so excited to announce the official launch of Favorite Daughter,” the brand shared via Instagram on December 4, 2020. “We thought of everything we wished we had in our closets and instead of buying them, we made them. We paid attention to every detail, making sure each piece was something we wanted to wear.”
A number of retailers currently carry Favorite Daughter, including Nordstrom, Anthropologie and Revolve.
“We hope you find a new favorite, something that you would steal out of your sister’s closet,” according to the website.
Favorite Daughter offers an assortment of pieces, from blazers and bustiers to high-waisted denim and vegan leather trousers.
Erin’s picks feature The Favorite Skirt, The Simon Coat and The Ex-Boyfriend Shirt. Meanwhile, Sara’s picks include The Phoebe Blazer, The Favorite Pant, The Favorite Dress and more, according to the website.
“The most important thing to us at Favorite Daughter is staying connected to our customers,” Erin shared to Instagram.
A true family affair, Erin and Sara’s sister Jordan is also in on the business, taking on the role of style director. She previously made herself available to offer styling tips to clients.
On her Instagram, she has videos styling The Gwen Set, The Gemini Dress and new arrivals. She has also curated a 10-piece Capsule Wardrobe, featuring 10 essential pieces “to complete every fall fit.”
The sisters—three of five—are the daughters of music producer David Foster. They said their sisterhood inspired the name.
“I figured everybody always thinks that they’re the favorite,” Erin said to People about the name. “Our dad has five daughters and so he used to always kind of secretly say to one of us, ‘Honestly, you’re my favorite.’”
Other changes coming soon to Palisades Village include the forthcoming openings of ROCA Pizza and French clothing brand Officine Générale.
As the Palisadian-Post went to print Tuesday evening, it remained unclear what would be taking the place of Amazon Books, located at Swarthmore and Sunset.
The latest store to open at the development is skin, body and hair care line Aēsop, which welcomed customers beginning October 21.
