The Fancy Feet performers donated their talent, enthusiasm and support for the March of Dimes at the Gift of Light VII concert on Sunday afternoon in the newly renovated Mercer Hall at Palisades High.
PaliHi donated the space, allowing for all the proceeds to benefit the March of Dimes. The event raised $7,029 for research, education, vaccines and breakthroughs in pediatric care.
Produced and directed by Fancy Feet instructors, the program featured performers ages 7 through 18 in dance, music and song.
“I would like to thank co-directors Patty Isas, Cheri Smith and Monique Smith as well as all the technical support crew at Palisades High who spent countless hours preparing the facility for our show today,” said Fancy Feet founder Emily Kay Tillman.
“Thank you to Dana Greene for directing the Light Choir, and for her support each year with her amazing and talented performers.”
Tillman, who taught her first classes while still a student at Pali, founded the studio 20 years ago. She thinks of her studio, located in the 881 Alma Real building, as a place where kids can try things, she says. “When they first come in they bring everything with them—their energy, drive and passion. I enjoy watching them develop over time. Each stage has its different rewards, for them and for me.”
Her students have danced at numerous Palisades events, including the Fourth of July parade, Spring Fling, Health Faire, Moonlight Fall Festival and Holiday Ho!Ho!Ho!
