Ethan Erickson made a 21-yard field goal with three seconds left to lift the Palisades High varsity football team to a 38-35 victory over Canoga Park on Friday night at Stadium by the Sea.
Desmond Box had 154 yards and two touchdowns in 13 carries and scored on runs of 85 and 17 yards. Brad Boorstin had 30 yards and one touchdown in seven carries and Willy Rosenfeld added 19 yards and one touchdown in five carries.
P.J. Hurst completed seven of 11 passes for 155 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown to tight end James Mann on the final play of the first half to give Palisades a 28-21 lead. Mann had three catches for 95 yards, Herbert Acosta had three receptions for 56 yards and Dhaamir Lomax also caught a pass for the host Dolphins (2-1).
Darius Jones, one of the City Section’s top rushers, was limited to 129 yards in 24 carries, but he also scored on a 98-yard kickoff return. Tyshon Hamilton added 32 yards and two scores in nine carries for the Hunters (3-1).
“There’s no such thing as a bad win,” Pali High head coach Tim Hyde said. “A win is a win. They competed hard and so did we.”
On defense, E.B. Odeh led the Dolphins with nine tackles (four for losses), two sacks and a fumble recovery, Mario Lofton had 7.5 tackles, Lofton Mason and Lomax each had 6.5 tackles, Aaron Butler had five tackles and Kenny Jones forced a fumble.
In the JV game, Innocent Okoh rushed for three touchdowns and Stone Maderer added a touchdown run in Palisades’ 26-8 victory. The Dolphins improved to 2-1.
