The LA City Section released its All-City basketball and soccer teams last week and Palisades High was represented on each list.
In basketball, senior guard and leading scorer Avery Lee made the boys’ Division I first team while for the girls, sophomore guard Alyssa Ramirez and senior forward Taylor Arnold made the Open Division first team. Teammates Byron Mendez and DaShaun Gaines of Grant were the Division I boys MVPs while Marcus Adams of Narbonne shared Open Division Player of the Year honors with Keyon Kensie of Taft. For thr girls, Rylei Waugh of Open champion Westchester and Marianne Boco from runner-up Granada Hills were Co-MVPs.
Palisades’ boys and girls soccer squads both made the Division I semifinals and each had two players make All-City. On the girls’ side junior goalkeeper Jacinda Hevesy-Rodriguez and junior midfielder Alex DiGennaro made the first team.
For the boys, Palisades senior midfielders Josh McCowan and Noah Badener both made the first team.
Striker Oscar Vargas of champion Birminmgham was the boys’ Player of the Year while junior forward Sharon Alcocer of Division I champion El Camino Real was the girls’ Player of the Year.
