According to Coach Carlos Gray, saying the Palisades High girls volleyball team is rebuilding is an understatement. It’s more like starting from scratch.
“We lost both setters, both liberos, every pin hitter and one of our middles [Abbey Kearney] is injured,” said Gray, whose team lost to El Camino Real in the City semifinals last fall. “We only have four girls coming back and only (middle Angel Echipue) started.”
The varsity consists of seniors Echipue, Taylor Slutzker (outside) and opposite Emma Simms; juniors Carly Duffy (middle), Georgia Pappas (libero), Maddie Fowler (opposite), Angelina Burton (outside), Chloe Uhls (setter), Chloe Pettigrew (middle) and Elizabeth Crawford (libero); sophomores Alex Laita (outside) and setters Keely McMahon and Jessie Bierschenk and freshman middle Melody Echipue.
