After winning its 13th straight City Section team title two weeks ago, Palisades High’s boys tennis team is after the coveted “triple crown.”
Top-seeded Michael Kaplan and second-seeded Jex Frankel advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals of the City Individual singles tournament with hopes of playing each other in yesterday’s finals at Birmingham High.
Kaplan dropped only one game in six sets on his way to the semifinals while Frankel also advanced without losing a set. He played third-seeded Aydan Fatu in the semifinals—a rematch of their meeting at No. 1 singles in the team finals when Frankel prevailed in a tiebreaker. Fatu beat Pali High freshman Max May in the second round and Luc Jesuele lost in three sets in the first round to Gabriel Tapucar of Downtown Magnets.
In doubles, the top-seeded duo of Noah Zaret and Luke Shuman took on Dolphins teammates Connor Wootton and Todd Valkov in one semifinal. Peter Garff and Neel Joshi met Granada Hills’ top tandem in the other.
