The Pacific Palisades Democratic Club is hosting its annual meeting—open to all and featuring appearances by elected officials—on Sunday, January 30, between 2 and 3:30 p.m.
The event serves as the PPDC’s “annual meeting,” at which the “executive board candidate slate and proposed bylaw modifications will be up for ratification by all club members in good standing who are present”—though the club hosts events throughout the year and its board meets monthly. The chairperson of the bylaws committee will speak at the meeting to explain the proposed bylaws changes and answer questions, according to the PPDC’s website. The group suggests reviewing materials ahead of the meeting.
“It’s special because our members vote to ratify the new year’s board of directors,” PPDC President Steve Cron said. “And the whole community, regardless of membership or politics, can hear from and ask questions of more of their elected officials at once than they can anywhere else.”
This year’s meeting is slated to feature U.S. Representative Ted Lieu, State Senator Ben Allen, Assemblymember Richard Bloom, LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and LA City Councilmember Mike Bonin.
This year’s meeting is also slated to introduce Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and Congressman Brad Sherman.
“This year we’re especially excited to be bringing in two politicians who don’t currently represent the Palisades, but might in 2023 post-redistricting: Congressman Brad Sherman and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin,” PPDC Vice President of Communications Adam Wolman said to the Palisadian-Post. “New district lines were drawn in 2021 and will begin to be implemented this year, but it won’t be till 2023 that we know who’ll be voted in as our Congressional and Assembly reps.”
Admission to the annual meeting will be free for those who wish to attend, with a suggested donation of $10 to help with costs. VIP admission will allow attendees to be “seen [and] heard,” and ask questions directly on camera.
