The Corpus Christi School Halloween Carnival held on Oct. 31 raised $4,500 this year. The students are very proud about how much money we raised for the Sisters of St. Louis in Brazil and the Missionary Childhood Association.
It is a day where kids wear their Halloween costumes and have a fun day at the carnival in Corpus Christi school. There are things to do like the Haunted House, games like Tic Tac Toe and the Rat Toss and The House of Boo. This was the first year that my little brother got to come to the parade because this is his first year in Corpus Christi. He is in kindergarten. He really had fun.
In the morning the kids and the teachers go into the classrooms and get prepared. Then we come out for the parade where all the kids parade around in their costumes. The teachers go in the parade too.
When I asked my brother Cooper Stein what he liked about the carnival, he said, “What I liked about the carnival was the Haunted House and all of the games that I got to play.”
I asked third-grader Keira Wood what her favorite part of the carnival was and she said, “My favorite part of the carnival was the Haunted House because it was scary, fun and the eighth-graders did it all by themselves. I did the scary and not scary Haunted House, but scary was more fun.”
When I asked Keira why she was dressed as Harry Potter for Halloween, she answered, “I was Harry Potter because Harry Potter is my favorite book and I thought it would be cool.” Then I asked Keira what her younger sister liked about the carnival. She answered, “Taryn liked the Haunted House and the House of Boo because it had lots of yummy treats.”
The House of Boo is a mini restaurant. They have lots of different types of sweets.
Principal Ryan Bushore said, “I liked seeing all of the kids in their Halloween costumes and raising money in a fun way.”
I asked him why the teachers decided to wear their pajamas for their Halloween costumes.
He answered, “We wore pajamas because Corpus Christi is a place where dreams come true and you usually dream at night when you are wearing your pajamas.”
It was a fun day and I look forward to it every year.
