See’s Candies, Chanel Among Tenants to Open on Sept. 22

Just over one month out from the opening of Palisades Village, the Palisadian-Post reveals four tenants joining Caruso’s Palisades Village: See’s Candies, Blue Ribbon Sushi, mini mioche and Chanel.
The crowd-favorite See’s Candies is known for its chocolates, brittles, toffees and lollypops, as well as assorted chocolate boxes.
“See’s Candies is excited to expand its relationship with Caruso and be an original establishment of the new Pacific Palisades mall,” Ann Ostrander, SVP of Sales & Marketing at See’s Candies, told the Post. “We love the communities in which all of our shops are located, and we look forward to greeting the families in the Pacific Palisades and West LA areas with open arms and our delicious, California-made candies!”
There are over 200 See’s Candies stores throughout the U.S., with international stores in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea. The now-San Francisco-based candy company was founded by Charles See, his wife Florence and his mother Mary in Los Angeles in 1921.
There are two See’s kitchens: One at its headquarters and a second in Los Angeles. The company has been owned by Berkshire Hathaway Corporation since 1972.
See’s Candies operates stores in other Caruso-owned developments, including The Grove and The Promenade in Westlake Village.
Blue Ribbon Sushi, operated by Eric and Bruce Bromberg’s Blue Ribbon Restaurants, is the company’s second location in the project, joining Hank’s burger joint.
Blue Ribbon operates more than 20 restaurants, from Los Angeles to New York. This iteration of Blue Ribbon Sushi is expected to be similar to the SoHo location, which offers dishes like Sake Shiso (salmon with shiso) and Ise Ebi (lobster with miso butter).
The Bromberg brothers, inspired by family trips to the South of France, have been in the culinary world for over 25 years. Serving a blend of what the brothers personally preferred to eat, the original Blue Ribbon opened in 1992.
Also joining the project when it opens is Canada-based children’s clothing shop mini mioche.
The Palisades location of mini mioche will be the brand’s third brick-and-mortar store and the first location outside of Toronto.
“We are so excited to bring our Canadian brand to the American market,” said Alyssa Kerbel, who founded mini mioche in 2008. “We feel California and LA in particular is the perfect location for our first U.S. store … Caruso has brought together an incredible mix of tenants in a beautiful setting with Palisades Village and we could not be happier to be a part of it.”
Kerbel founded mini mioche after the birth of her first child. The company offers pieces with a focus on neutral colors and unisex style, using certified organic cotton fabrics.
The store will be a “boutique location,” meaning it will specialize in apparel only, including “simple, high-quality organic cotton fashion basics such as onesies, rompers, dresses and sleepwear, with sizes from newborn to 8 years.”
In addition to mini mioche, Blue Ribbon Sushi and See’s Candies, Chanel will be opening a store in Palisades Village. Though rumors of what exactly the Palisades iteration of Chanel will offer are swirling, details are still under wraps.
The fashion brand was founded in 1909 and is headquartered in Paris, France. Chanel operates over 300 stores across the globe, with 128 in North America.
In 2015, Chanel broke a retail record when it paid $152 million for its Rodeo Drive boutique—a record price on square-foot basis for retail space in California at $13,217 per square foot.
