Community members are invited to watch the 1932 Will Rogers classic ‘Too Busy to Work,’ starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 12 at Will Rogers State Historic Park. The Will Rogers Ranch Foundation is hosting the sixth-annual movie night to recognize the anniversary of Rogers’ death on August 15, 1935. Rogers humorously plays a hobo who scours the countryside for the man who stole his wife’s affections. New York Times reviewer Mordaunt Hall wrote in December 1932: ‘In his latest picture, ‘Too Busy to Work,’ Will Rogers, who without a doubt is one of Hollywood’s most industrious inhabitants, portrays a tramp with a decided distaste for even the simplest form of toil. What is more, this actor, writer, flier and polo enthusiast actually gives an excellent impression of a lazy man, who, in a crafty fashion, succeeds, like Tom Sawyer, in getting another man to do the tasks allotted to him.’ Attendees should bring a blanket. Dinner can be purchased from gourmet food trucks, the Flatiron Truck and the Grilled Cheese Truck. Free popcorn will be available. There will also be tours of Rogers’ ranch house.
