August 22,1984 — May 2, 2017
Chris, who died suddenly of natural causes, was the son of Shirley and the late Dr. William Ross Cabeen Jr.
He grew up in Pacific Palisades where he attended St. Matthew’s Parish School and graduated from Brentwood School. He attended the University of California at Santa Cruz.
For Chris, his family and friends were the center of his existence, whether he was near or far. He followed everyone on Facebook, and celebrated their victories and sympathized with their struggles.
Chris was a talented guitarist who loved animals, music, movies and the Los Angeles Kings hockey team. He wrote his own songs and poetry.
In his last seven years, the lights of his life were his two nieces Rebecca and Sibyl, young daughters of his beloved brother Ted and wife Christina who helped and supported him.
Chris is also survived by aunts and uncles Carol Goede, Walt Goede, Jane Cabeen Kallis, George Kallis, Vicki Cabeen Lubke, Jim van Osdell, Lynn Hasselberg and Dennis Hasselberg; cousins Heather Rich, Getchel Tricarico, Kris Garard, Dave Custance, Justin Lubke, Chip Kanne and Mark Garard; plus his little second cousins and his very dearly loved best friend Fred Sutton and all the Suttons who were his adored “second family” growing up.
Chris’ friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service to be held at St. Matthew’s Parish Church, 1031 Bienveneda on June 10, 2017 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to help needy animals at spcala.com/donate.
