Badminton and table tennis champion Lee Calvert is eager to add to her medal count at the Huntsman Senior Games in St. George, Utah, but that pursuit will be put on hold temporarily.
“I had intended to play in this year’s Games (October 5-17), but with COVID I decided to wait until 2021 when I hope to get back at it again,” said the 95-year-old Palisades Optimist Club member from Tahitian Terrace. “I’m optimistic about getting back into competition when the “all clear” signal rings out.”
Through it all, Calvert always finds time to work out: “I immediately stopped playing when the word was out to “distance” because of COVID. I appreciated the warnings and my possible vulnerability so I avoided crowds but I kept doing my pushups and sit-ups and I kept hiking my area here on different levels to stay in shape.”
