UPDATE: A Palisadian who wishes to remain anonymous has offered a $300 reward if the device is returned in working order to the Palisadian-Post office at 881 Alma Real #213, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
Original Story:
A 7-year-old special needs child’s assistive computer device was stolen from her home’s driveway on Wildomar Street around 8 a.m. today as the young girl was being taken in her wheelchair to meet the bus to take her to 2nd grade at Marquez Elementary School.
The home on Wildomar is located three blocks from Palisades High School.
The young girl’s Mi Tobii device, which allows her to communicate, is a small flat-screen computer with an arm that attaches to her wheelchair. The device, which is the property of the Marquez School District, is very expensive and difficult to obtain. It is programmed solely for this 7-year-old child’s use. It is useless to anyone else.
The young girl’s family is afraid that the person who took the device will throw it away when they realize that it is not a regular computer, TV or iPad and is asking for it to be returned – no questions asked.
If anybody has any information, contact the police at (800) ASK-LAPD or drop off the device at the Palisadian-Post office at 881 Alma Real Drive #213, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
