UPDATE: Two female drivers—one in her thirties and the other in her sixties—were involved in the collision and sustained only minor injuries, according to LAFD Station 69. A tow truck hauled away the smashed remains of the two cars and Sunset Blvd. was re-opened to traffic at about 5 p.m.
A head-on collision at 2:20 p.m. on Sunset Boulevard east of Chautauqua in Pacific Palisades sent at least one person to Providence St. John’s in Santa Monica in unknown condition, according to LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey.
Eastbound Sunset is closed to traffic and LAPD officers told the Palisadian-Post on the scene it may be hours before it re-opens.
Westbound Sunset traffic is jammed as is traffic on Chautauqua. Side streets are also impacted.
