Palisades Bocce Club President Jimmy Dunne wrote this report about the final week of the regular season and the playoff seedings at Veterans Gardens:
SENIOR LEAGUE
Congratulations to the 8 fabulous teams that have made the playoffs!
The Mountain Division produced a four-way tie at the top. The Spring Chickens, Friends and Neighbors, Bocce Aces and Bocce Buddies all qualified for the playoffs at 4-2.
The Ocean Division was almost as crowded, but Martinis finished as the sole champion at 5-1. Tying for second with 4-2 records were La Bocce Vita, High Rollers and The Patriots.
The first round of the playoffs was Tuesday (results unavailable at press time) with all eight teams participating in a round robin format and the top four advancing to the semifinals next Tuesday, August 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The winners will play for all the marbles Aug. 23.
SUNSET LEAGUE
Congratulations to the 12 fabulous teams that have made the playoffs!
The Tuesday 5:30 Division was won by the unblemished Calvary Aces (6-0), followed by PaliPallinos (5-1), I Liff Bocce (3-3) and Acapulco (3-3). Winning the 6:30 Thursday Division was undefeated Bocce Boys & Babes (6-0), followed by Rolling Stones (5-1), Pali Pado Paisanos (4-2) and Chai Rollers (4-2). First place in the 6:30 Thursday Division went to perfect Pompeii (6-0) and rounding out the last playoff spots are Pali Dad Bod (5-1), Chewbacce (4-2) and Ball Busters (4-2).
The first round of the playoffs was Tuesday night (results unavailable at press time) with the top six teams advancing in the round robin format.
The second round is next Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m., with the two teams advancing to the finals Aug. 23.
Both Sunset and Senior League finals will start at 6, at which time courts will be lined with chairs for all fans from all teams. A “Pie and Burger” truck will be serving dinner (burgers, fries, pie, iced tea and water). Cost is $48 per person. After the finals will be an awards party at which league awards will be given. Who will win the Martini? Who will be the MVPs and Most Improved? Who will win the Palisadian?
AUTUMN LEAGUES
If you have not done so yet, sign up for the Autumn Leagues. Senior League starts Tuesday, Sept. 6 while Sunset League play begins Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 8. Finals are the first week in November.
SINGLES TOURNEY
The first Palisades Bocce Singles Championships will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 from noon to 5 p.m. Times may be increased or decreased depending on the number of players.

The cost is $30 per player and players must be registered by Friday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. Men and women of any age from Pacific Palisades or neighboring communities are eligible to participate in the single-elimination tournament.
Matches will be to 10 points and trophies (or equivalent prizes) will be awarded to the winners.
