Long time third-generation Santa Monica Canyon resident and matriarch of the Snyder family Beverlie Snyder passed away peacefully at St. John’s Hospital on February 15.
She grew up in Santa Monica and graduated from USC where she was a proud member of the Tri Delta sorority. She was married to H Ralph Snyder for nearly 65 years and lived in the same house until her passing. Her mother’s parents were farmers for Edgemar Farms in Santa Monica and her father was a lawyer and judge in Santa Monica.
Bev was as comfortable at a booth in Fromin’s (she loved their wine pour) as fancy restaurants though they weren’t her thing. She was a peacekeeper in a family of strong opinions.
She never missed an opportunity to drive her children (Bryan, Grant and Tracy) to games at Rustic Canyon or to the Jonathan Beach Club, which was her home away from home on sunny weekend days.
She never missed watching her favorite soaps and her favorite gameshow “Jeopardy.” Her house was always welcoming with fresh flowers and pleasant conversation.
She and Ralph traveled the world, her favorite spots were Palm Desert, Poipu Beach and, of course, her spot at the Jonathan Beach Club.
She loved her kids and adored her grandkids (Ally, Nick, Jack and Wyatt) and, of course, her labrador retrievers, most recently her beloved yellow lab Sunny. Lisa, her housekeeper and helper of 38 years, is a revered member of the family who greatly assisted during her last days.
She loved the quote “Cherish your yesterdays, dream your tomorrows and live your todays.” She did all of the above and will be greatly missed.
Her family asks that you honor someone in your life with an act of kindness in Bev’s memory, and pour yourself a nice glass of chardonnay and toast to her memory. The family also would like to thank the exceptional medical team in the ICU at Providence St. Johns for their compassionate care.
