The Palisades Predators, a girls 10U AYSO Region 69 Extra team, took third place at the Western State Championships last weekend in Moorpark. Representing Section 1, the local squad was one of four teams in its age group competing against teams from San Diego to San Luis Obispo. The Predators lost their first game 8-1 to Ladera Ranch from Orange County but rallied to beat Quartz Hill of Lancaster 5-3 in the consolation round.
Having captured the President’s Cup in Chatsworth last month, the Predators plan to play more tournaments this spring. Coached by Mark Jaffe and Rad Hallman, the Predators edged Ranch Cucamonga 2-1 in the semifinals of the Regional tournament before falling to host Redlands in the final to earn a spot in the Western State Championships. In January they were second at the Section 1 West Circuit Playoffs, upsetting top-seeded Santa Monica 1-0 in the semifinals.
The roster consists of Nadine Jaffe, Lindy Hallman, Blake Fassnacht, Catie Sterparn, Georgia Weinstock, Kaela Jaffe, Mila Zagalsky, Nicole Sacks and Presley Karsh.
