The Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art presents “Enigma: Studio Art Thesis Exhibition,” featuring works by art majors graduating from Pepperdine’s Seaver College, from April 11 to 27.
“Enigma” will feature works by 12 artists who are graduating in April. The works explore their creative imagination in various media ranging from painting and sculpture to mixed-media assemblage and performance art.
“Three students will showcase sculptural pieces and nine students will exhibit two-dimensional work, such as drawings and paintings using watercolor, oils or acrylic,” said Gretchen Batcheller, assistant professor of studio art.
Ty Pownall, also an assistant professor of studio art, added, “Within the work of these 12 artists there is exciting variety, from designer body bags to abstract sculpture that blends the history of welded steel with surf culture.”
Batcheller and Pownall organized the exhibition in cooperation with Michael Zakian, director of the Weisman Museum.
