By JENNA SITEMAN | Intern
Palisadian-Post summertime intern Jenna Siteman shared her experience working with the paper. Siteman’s internship included the opportunity to write feature and news stories, participating in editorial meetings in a remote fashion, due to the pandemic.
Being able to work with the Palisadian-Post this summer has not only given me the incredible opportunity of becoming more familiar with community events, but also the individuals who make them possible.
From ingenious teens who want to help medical professionals to community ice cream shops, it is clear how passionate the residents of the Palisades are. This allowed me to not only enjoy my experience of writing for the Post, but to grow as a writer and a person.
The range of projects that residents have taken on this summer is not only reflective of the strong community that is the Palisades, but also of the way that residents want to help others during this time of great unrest. There are many methods of aiding a situation, and the creativity of the people of the Palisades truly shows that.
Despite the virtual aspect of my writing experience with the Post, Editor-in-Chief Sarah Shmerling made the experience one of in-depth learning and enjoyment, and I am so grateful for the experience.
After working for my school paper at my university, the type of stories I was able to write about this summer were a wonderful addition to my portfolio and a breath of fresh air.
I am so thankful for this experience and for the interaction with other Post reporters. I am looking forward to returning to my university this fall to continue my journalistic education so that I may strive to work for an organization as reputable as the Post after I graduate.
The Post is currently seeking applications for fall interns. Interested parties are encouraged to send a brief introduction, as well as one or two writing samples, to mypost@palipost.com for consideration.
