Finding opponents week to week has not been easy for Palisades High JV football coach Ray Marsden.With so many schools dropping their JV programs he has had to scramble to find games, but he was happy to secure a matchup against Newbury Park last Friday.
The Dolphins were dealt their first loss of the season, 21-13, but battled all the way, scoring on their opening series when quarterback Roman La Scala threw a 40-yard strike to Braydon Sanford. It was 7-7 at hafltime.
Trailing 21-7 in the fourth quarter, Palisades drove 70 yards and scored on La Scala’s sneak. The Dolphins had the ball at midfield with one minute left and got a first down but the visitors held and ran out the clock.
“They were as deep, physical and organized as any team we’ve played in the last 10 years,” Marsden said. “They were way better than us but we went toe-to-toe with them for four quarters. Saxon Wald made several bone crushing tackles on defense and our offensive line played well too. I’m really proud of my team.”
