The Pali Hoop Dreams and Pali Waves youth basketball programs have partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit organization formed at Stanford University in 1998 to help transform the culture of youth sports.
PHD and Pali Waves are hosting a PCA Parent Workshop from 6 to 8:30 tonight at Corpus Christi School (890 Toyopa Drive). The workshop focuses on how to become effective and positive supporters of your athlete, how to develop better parent-coach relationships and how to improve communication. A $5 donation is suggested and $10 workbooks are available for purchase.
PCA’s mission is to teach leaders of youth sports, coaches, parents and athletes the power in positive coaching. Research shows that positive reinforcement improves performance and teaches children valuable life lessons. The PCA National Advisory Board includes NBA coaches Steve Kerr and Doc Rivers, New York Knicks President of operations Phil Jackson, NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, MLB manager Dusty Baker and Olympic swimmer/TV commentator Summer Sanders.
