For 2013 Palisades High School graduate Keondre Manansala, Navy boot camp was a lot like marching band.
“Being at attention and working as a team was pretty easy for me,” Manansala told the Palisadian-Post.
“My first impression was that it was something familiar and not too strange,” he added.
Manansala played tenor saxophone in PaliHi’s marching band for four years.

The sailor recently finished boot camp and is now in training at the Navy’s submarine school in Groton, Conn.
“I chose subs because I heard they traveled more,” Manansala said. “I thought it would be cool to be in the silent service.”
Another reason: Manansala has four cousins currently serving in the Navy, so he figured he’d do something different.
“I’m the third generation in my family to join the Navy,” Manansala said.
