Alf Clausen was guest of honor at the 24th annual Recording Musicians Association’s fundraiser at the Bel-Air Bay Club on Sunday, Sept. 24. Clausen was honored, joked RMALA President Steve Dress, because he could not think of another composer “who has worked on a TV show for 27 seasons with original music and an orchestra every week.”
Earlier this year, executives of “The Simpsons” tried to “retire” Clausen, but the outcry was so great that they stepped back and Clausen, 76, will continue to have an “ongoing role” in the animated comedy. He has also scored enduring favorites such as “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “The Naked Gun” and, by coincidence, “ALF.”
