The Palisades High boys varsity water polo team will be back in the pool this weekend as co-host of the fourth annual Westside Classic.
The eight-team tournament begins Friday at Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center and finishes Saturday at Brentwood School. The Dolphins are in Group B with Westlake, Santa Monica’s JV and Eagle Rock. Group A consists of Brentwood, Culver City, Diamond Bar and Venice.
Palisades opens the tournament Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Eagle Rock and plays again at 7:30 p.m. against Santa Monica’s JV. The Dolphins’ final group game is at 9 a.m. Saturday against Westlake at Brentwood. All games will consist of six-minute quarters and ties will be decided by sudden death.
The fourth-place team from each group will play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brentwood, the third-place teams from each group will play at 2 p.m., the second-place group finishers will play at 3 p.m. and the two group winners will play for the championship Saturday at 4 p.m.
Palisades went undefeated in the tournament last year, beating Eagle Rock, the Dolphins’ JV squad and Birmingham in group play and topping Brentwood 10-7 in the final.
