Mr & Miss Palisades
A Palisades tradition, the Miss Palisades (since 1959) and Mr. Palisades (since 1990) Teen Contest has been held to select a young woman and a young man to represent teens in our community.
Open to all Palisades teens ages 14-18, Mr. and Miss Palisades will each be awarded a $2,000 cash prize, a year of free food at Palisades Garden Café and more prizes to be announced.
Mr. and Miss Palisades will ride in the 4th of July Parade, will be featured on the front page of the Palisadian-Post and more. $25,000 in Grants Available to Youth Organizations
The Pacific Palisades Optimist Club is inviting local organizations, churches and schools to submit a grant application to fund programs primarily designed to benefit the youth of our community.
Grant applications may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, 15330 Antioch Street and must be returned by March 31. Contact Bill Skinner, 310-459-8286.
Young Artist Awards Competition
Palisades Symphony, Inc., invites local instrumentalists able to perform a movement of a concert with orchestra to audition for an award and the chance to play with Palisades Symphony June 14, 2015. Auditions are open to students residing or attending school in Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Malibu or Brentwood. Apply by sending name, address, phone, age, school and grade level, an application fee of $10, brief musical bio, name of current instructor and the name of the work to be performed at audition to Palisades Symphony, P.O. Box 214, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
Deadline is March 23. Auditions will be held March 31 at Palisades High School, Mercer Hall. Call 310-454-8040.
LA Philharmonic Student Scholarship Available
The Westside Committee of the Los Angeles Philharmonic awards annual scholarships up to $500 to students based on talent, technique, promise and need.
Requirements are: minimum of three years of study on instrument being played, performance of classical piece 3-5 minutes, currently enrolled in grade 6-12, written recommendation from teacher, students must reside or attend school or take lessons in Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Malibu or Topanga.
