One of the most anticipated arrivals of the New Year is the first baby born to parents living in Pacific Palisades.
Launched in 1954 by the Palisadian-Post, the tradition began with Arnold Anchordoguy, and with the exception of 1955, a new baby has been honored every year. Last year’s first arrival was Maeve Elizabeth Lester, who was born on Jan. 23 at 5:49 p.m.
This year, Bank of America is sponsoring the First Baby and will be awarding a $100 savings account to the infant. The winning infant and his or her family will also be recognized in the Post with a story and photo taken by staff photographer Rich Schmitt.
To be eligible, parents must own or rent a home in Pacific Palisades. The attending physician must specify time of birth and weight in writing.
Eligible parents who have early-January babies should contact the Post’s editorial department with the date, time and location of birth.
Email sierra@palipost.com with “First Baby” in the subject line or call at (310) 454-1321.
Monday, Jan. 5, at 5 p.m. is the deadline for notifying the Post. If there are no babies born by that time, the deadline will be extended to Jan. 12.
