Culminating a unit of study on China in the two-year-old classroom, the campus at Palisades Montessori Center was transformed into the Asian country of China on Feb. 7.
Learning a bounty of facts about China, the children demonstrated their new-found knowledge to their parents by counting in Chinese, speaking in Mandarin and reciting historical and current information that makes China a land of wonder.
Teacher and director of the school, Angela DeSilva said, “People underestimate what children can do and what they enjoy learning. I am always so excited when I see how much my students can absorb.”
After their initial performance, children and parents enjoyed seeing the Lion Dance and eating a sampling of Chinese food. With all of the Chinese decorations and music complementing the program, guests felt as though they had been virtually transported to China.
