In its first meet of the season the Palisades High varsity wrestling team took fifth place at the Downey Duals last Saturday.
The Dolphins went 2-2 in its pool, defeating San Gabriel by forfeit, outscoring Paloma Valley 43-36 and losing to Selma (52-18) and Downey (48-20). In the fifth-place match Palisades beat Schurr 56-15.
Brad Boorstin went 4-0 at 170 pounds and Kevin Monterrubio went 4-0 at 138 pounds. Erik Miranda went 3-1 in the 106-pound weight division, David Rheingold went 3-1 at 120 pounds and Kenny Jones went 3-1 at heavyweight.
On Tuesday, the Dolphins competed in a five-way dual with Bishop, Upland, Covina and Montclair (result unavailable at press time) and they travel to Northview High in Covina for the Jesse Cruz Memorial on Saturday.
After finishing fourth at the City Section finals last season Palisades won the inaugural City dual championships, upsetting perennial power San Fernando in the final.
