Get ready for a “boo-tastic” time at the 4th Annual Spooktacular, which returns on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Palisades Recreation Center.
“We are really excited for the community to come together and celebrate friends, neighbors and the season together,” event organizer Susan McInerney said in an email.
Kids of all ages will get into the Halloween spirit with a paint-your-own pumpkin patch, crafts, face painting, a bounce house and much more. A great DJ will set the festive tone and a creepy Halloween petting zoo in addition to a new magic show will entertain everyone.
This year the Haunted House is set to be spookier than ever. The big gym area will also be transformed into a friendly trick-or-treat path for the younger kids and toddlers.
Susan Payne of the former Scarlett’s Cupcakes will be donating over 300 mini-cupcakes for the event. If you need a Scarlett’s fix or would like to say hi to her, she’ll be there from 3 to 4 p.m., and her cupcakes will be there until they are gone.
Councilmember Mike Bonin will also be making an appearance to visit with the community.
At this year’s event, the Park Advisory Board will be displaying some storyboards with inspiration on the Rec Center’s new playground. The PAB will be looking for community input and comments on the playground and are encouraging attendees to stop by the volunteer booth and information table near the big gym for more information.
Last year, over 1,000 people attended Spooktacular, and this year organizers are expecting 1,250 or more.
Unlimited access is $5 per child. An additional $5 punch card may be purchased to play the carnival games. Food will also be for sale at the event. This event is cash only.
