Reza Gostar, a former Palisadian-Post reporter, has returned to the Post as News Editor.
Gostar was most recently working as a reporter for the 87-year-old The Desert Sun, a daily, subscriber-based paper that is the primary news source for the Coachella Valley. He brings a solid background in reporting as well as a wealth of knowledge about Pacific Palisades.
Gostar is the reporter who first broke the news that developer Rick Caruso was in talks to purchase the Palisades Village properties, and he landed an in-person interview with Evan Spiegel, the Palisadian founder of Snapchat, which was recently valued at approximately $10 billion.
“While I worked with many seasoned and talented reporters at The Desert Sun, I really missed the Post’s new energy and the freedom to be creative and think outside the box,” Gostar said about his decision to return to the Post.
Gostar fully understands what the 86-year-old newspaper means to the Palisades community and will keep its history in mind as he helps usher it into a new era.
“I hope to further enhance readers’ experience by blending the best elements from the paper’s past with the most innovative aspects of its future,” Gostar said.
Gostar isn’t the only former Post employee to rejoin the thriving media company, which recently introduced the glossy 90272 Magazine, has expanded its online and social media presence and has successfully branched out into the community events arena.
In addition to Gostar, longtime sports reporter Steve Galluzzo left the Los Angeles Times in November 2013 to rejoin the Post as Sports Editor.
Under Galluzzo’s watch, the Post’s sports section has expanded to include more sports, more schools and more recreational activities and has branched out into social media and an online-only blog that features interviews, photos and videos (palipost.com/category/sports-blog).
