After suffering their first losses of the season the Palisades High varsity and JV football teams will play in front of their home crowd for the first time tomorrow when they host Canoga Park at Stadium by the Sea. The JV game kicks off at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7.
The challenge for varsity coach Tim Hyde and his squad will be slowing down Hunters tailback Darius Jones, who has rushed for 443 yards and eight touchdowns in three games — all victories. Jones is averaging 8.5 yards per carry and returning Dolphins should remember him well, for he gained 279 yards in only 12 carries in Pali High’s 14-11 win at Canoga Park last year.
“That’s a very solid team and Jones is an outstanding running back,” Hyde said of the Dolphins’ next opponent.
Starting free safety Duane McBroom, who sat out the Samo game with a bruised knee, could return to the lineup. He had a team-best 10 tackles and a fumble recovery last year against the Hunters.
