Palisadian Phyllis Genovese-Keely was honored in celebration of her upcoming 100th birthday at the Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club annual members’ holiday party, which took place on Dec. 6.
A long-time Woman’s Club member, former Citizen of the Year and published author, Genovese-Keely was one of the original 60 merchants who in 1949 formed what would become the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce.
According to PPWC president Terri Lyman, Genovese-Keely had expressed that she wanted a party with everyone invited and that is just what she got, complete with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” and a cake with red-and-white icing.
“She has been part of our community forever,” Lyman said. “About 30 Woman’s Club members came out to toast the season and wish her a very happy 100 years!”
