Camille Isabelle Adele Beaufour McDaniel was born was born Nov. 14, 1936 in the northern France town of Billy-Montigny to her parents, Felicien and Adele Beaufour. She passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at age 78 surrounded by her husband, sister and children at her home in Pacific Palisades.
Camille immigrated to California in 1962 and shortly thereafter met her husband, Vernon, an aerospace engineer. Camille and Vernon remained married for over 51 years until her passing.
Camille’s love of family as a nurturing wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend was to many her greatest accomplishment. She was a homemaker and volunteered in her community. She was an avid reader and a devoted Catholic.
Camille loved the arts, culture and classical music, and she enjoyed travel, cooking and entertaining.
She had a unique charisma that drew people to her. Everyone who knew her will miss the sweet nature, warmth and vitality that were essential aspects of Camille.
In 2013 Camille was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and her final year and a half were the most challenging of her life.
She spent them at home supported by family and friends.
Camille is survived by her husband; sisters Gilberte and Nicole; brother Gilbert; as well as her daughter Diane, son Patrick and grandchildren Dexter and Eva. She was preceeded in death by her parents and brother Germain.
A service is planned at Corpus Christi Church on Feb. 21, 2015 at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow at her home. In lieu of flowers, her family would like donations in her memory to be directed to the ALS Association, www.alsa.org, to help find a cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease.
