Palisadians from the Bienveneda block south of Sunset gathered with neighbors from 30 families for the annual block party earlier this month. The six-year-old tradition is the neighborhood’s farewell to summer and over the years has included performers, arts and crafts, a bounce house, pogo sticks, bikes and always – food.
Under the shade of historic California Sycamore trees, neighbors kept cool while enjoying good company and freshly caught abalone brought by Jim Purcell.
“We are so fortunate that we have a great mix of old-timers who have all lived here for many years. The street is changing though with lovely new families and children moving here this year,” Chris van Scoyk said. “Lots of very involved and interesting people live in our little slice of Pacific Palisades.”
